Surprises

I have been planning a HUGE surprise weekend  getaway for J and I for our first wedding anniversary.  I have put a lot of research, time and thought into our romantic trip.  Keeping secrets it extremely hard for me but, I kept this one almost.
In my opinion, J is a huge baby about secrets.  He hates them - so he claims.  He whined and whined that he had no clue what we were doing and that he was going to miss the hockey game on Friday night.  Keeping the secret was becoming less and less fun because I wanted him to be just as excited as I was.  So I decided that I had to tell him but, I wanted it to be special because I had put so much effort into not telling him.
On Wednesday evening J and I went to visit his Mee Maw.  He dropped me off and he ran out to get us some delicious cream of crab soup and an oyster po'boy.  While he was being our little servant , I decided to tell Mee Maw all about my big surprise get away weekend.  She was so excited for us.  I love her.  I also told her that Joey has been complaining that he hates surprises.  So naturally, Mee Maw told me that I had to tell him.  Ya see, Mee Maw says exactly what she is thinking 100% of the time - I love that about her.  So then I had this BRILLIANT idea to let her tell him - and she was so excited to be the one to get to break the news.  So after we finished eating, we told him all of our big exciting plans.
The problem was Mee Maw was less than thrilled with J's reaction.  She told him that he did NOT seem surprised or excited and he should instead be very, very happy.  So what did we do?
We told him again with slightly more detail than the first time.  This time J put on a show for us.  This still did not please Mee Maw.  Clealy J's acting is not up to par.  And she told him to stop - ha ha.  Of course, J told us just how excited he really was and we talked a lot more about it.  In fact we talked about it so much that fell asleep talking about it.
I'm REALLY glad that I ruined the surprise because it has been so much more fun having J be just as excited as I am.  Little does he know that I saved one teeny weeny surprise - he he he.
Oh you want to know what we are doing?  Well, I have to leave someone surprised right?  Don't worry I will have the full play by play later next week complete with pictures.
Have a fabulous weekend!  I know we will.
Oh, and I have a VERY special post coming on Sunday where you will get to see a lot more Wedding pictures.

My Famous Husband

With our one year anniversary rapidly approaching I wanted to take the time this week to talk about J.
Remember that time I told you that my husband was famous?
Well get excited because I am about to tell you why.
Well ya see, he has a heart of pure gold and he is super shy about this story.  In fact, he would probably mad that I'm telling you all but, I just have to brag.
He was followed around by cameras and news reporters for weeks, he said it was annoying but, I think it is cool.  He says all the attention got to his head, after the Rosie O'Donnell show he was on the Today Show, and then cameras followed him to the airport and were there when he landed.  He was a mini celebrity for a few months.  He said he would come home from school and news crews were there to interview him and all he wanted to do was play basketball with his friends.
Want to know what he did?  Well, I'm not sure if I've ever told you this my husband is a deltiologist.  He studies, collects and sells antiques postcards.  Pretty interesting huh?  His grandmother started a business Mary Martin Postcards which is now the largest postcard shop in the world.  Anyways, back to the point when J was in 8th grade his best friend's mother was diagnosed with leukemia and she needed a bone marrow transplant.  So J auctioned off one of his most valuable possessions to raise money for the transplant.  He auctioned off a postcard of the Titanic that was made PRIOR to it sinking - which is unique in itself because most postcards you will see of the ill fated ship were made AFTER it sunk.  This postcard was extra special because it was signed by a survivor of the Titanic.  J went on a cruise that brought up the largest piece of the ship and on it were a few remaining survivors and he had his postcard signed by one.  He began by auctioning off the card in a silent auction, then the word got out about what he was doing.  Local news stations interviewed him and then Rosie O'Donnell heard about it.  (Keep in mind this was right when the movie came out.)  Rosie had him on the show, and she also had the Titanic Broadway musical.  The Titanic Broadway Musical bought the card for $60,000 which was the amount needed for the bone marrow transplant.    Pretty amazing huh?  Well, Rosie LOVED J and she had him back during her favorite things episode, and her last episode ever.
Now I think you understand at least one reason why J is the most amazing person that I have ever met and why I am so lucky that I get to love him for the rest of my life.
I scoured the Internet for videos / pictures but all I could find are these articles:
Go ahead read them and see how wonderful he is :)

About Building A House Part 2

Our home is really coming along.
It is like a baby because every time we go to visit it has "grown".
It has walls, a roof, windows, doors, stairs, bathtubs, showers, plumbing hook ups, electricity wire things.  It it happening so fast.
I went down on Monday without J so I took some pictures to share with him and I figured that I would share them with you too because you are obviously just as excited about my house as I am right?

This is on our ceiling.  I have no idea what it does but, its cool right?  I think it is something to do with heating.
Stuff in our basement.
Our soaker tub - its just a tad dirty.

Master Shower
 Breakfast bar.
 Plumbing for our sink.
Upstairs tub/shower
Our yellow home :)

We can't wait to live in you!

Eleven things

Hello!  Hey!  Hi!  How you doin'?  Nice to see you again and REALLY nice to meet you!
I'm sure a lot of you beautiful readers are here from Kelly & Jenni's blogs.  {If you are not check them out under sponsors - Eat-Yourself Skinny & Story of my life.}
Anyway, I just want to say whether you are a new reader or an old reader that I am so glad you are here.  I hope that you stay awhile & that you come back again and again.
In honor of this, I wanted to take the time to let you get to know a little bit more about moi and maybe if I am super lucky and you are willing I will get to know more about you.

So Leslie - from A Blonde Ambition gave all of her readers/bloggers a tag for this fun game called Eleven things.

Here is how to play:
~you must post the rules
~post 11 fun facts about yourself
~answer the 11 questions that the tagger posted for you & then create 11 questions to ask the people you've tagged
~tag 11 people and link them in your post
~let them know you have tagged them

So here are 11 "fun" facts about me.

1. Everyday on my way to work I pretend that I am a singer {usually Taylor Swift} and I belt out her jams - and I mean really it BELT out.

2.  I'm obsessed with lemons.  I love lemon drop martinis, lemon chicken, lemon scented soap - anything lemon I love it.

3.  I'm married to a famous person.  Yep, you heard me right F-A-M-O-U-S.  He was on the Rosy O'Donnell show like two or maybe three times.  I bet you want to know why huh?  Well, how about I save that post for next week - I gotta keep you coming back ;)!

4.  I think the best cure for a sore throat is salt -n- vinegar chips.

5.  I'm obsessed with my skin (especially on my face).  I believe that you are NEVER to young for wrinkle cream.  And I'm LOVING the mia clarasonic.

6.  I hit the snooze button every morning at least once  J hates it because he doesn't have to be up as early as me and he worries that I won't get up in time for work.

7.  I think that there is something just so sexy about a plain white tee and jeans.  It reminds me of Jennifer Aniston and well she is just so hott.

8.  Sometimes I like to talk in an accent.

9.  My dream vacation is a trip with just J to Paris and I want it to be snowing.  Doesn't that scream romance?

10.  I still use my old AIM (remember that?) screen name if I need to make up a user name : PrettyBritty0212.  Maybe I should call this blog PrettyBritty instead of 20SW?  ahhh no.

11.  I hate chocolate.  It smells great but, to me it tastes well not so great.

Here are the questions that Leslie posted:
1. If you could raid any celebrity's closet, who would it be and why?
Hands down Reese Witherspoon.  I mean who wouldn't this little white dress in their closet?

2. If you were a shoe, what would you look like?
Well, my style is usually straight up comfortable but, equally stylish (at least I hope).  So even though I would love to say a Christian Louboutin black pump,  I have to go with a pair of Toms.
even though I have yet to own a pair :(

3. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Yikes, I'm not really sure.  I guess I don't really like texting about something important.  I'd rather just talk on the phone really quickly.
4. Favorite song of all-time?
Wouldn't it be nice by the Beach Boys.  Easy Peasy.
5. Are you a dog person or a cat person? And why? (If you don't like animals, we can't be friends.)
Dog for sure.  I don't really like cats - sure they are cute but, not really for me.  (Sorry if I offended you.)
6. You're queen for a day. How do you spend your royal 24 hours?
Well, if I was a queen that would make me rich right?   I would totally shop for 24 hours straight.  No lie.  I would buy stuff for everyone I could.  I know - totally lame and superficial but, you can't bring world peace in 24 hours - can you?
7. What's the most delicious thing you've ever eaten?
In Minnesota, at the mall of America there is this restaurant called The Twin City Grill and they have these loaded mashed potatoes that are unbelievable.  They like cook the bacon in the potatoes in a cast iron skillet. Yum!   Has anyone ever had them?  This was like four years ago and I can't stop dreaming about them.
8. What scares you the most? (This can be deep and complex or shallow...whateva you feel like!)
Losing someone I love.
9. Which celebrity do you wish would drift off into obscurity?
Right now?  Courtney from the bachelor.  I can't stand her! #@@#$#  - that's what I have to say to her little bum.
10. You're 16 years old again. What advice would you give your younger self?
Don't waste you time with other boys and heartbreak.  Have fun and be young!
11. What's your Starbucks order?
Okay I hate coffee.  Yuck!  So I order large (I haven't got the lingo down just yet) iced (even in the winter time) green tea with no sugar and sometime I'll mix it with lemonade.

Now I'm supposed to tag someone to do this.
Well, I'm going to copy off Leslie and tag ALL of you!  I want to get to know all of you better sooooo
anytime within the next week starting now play this game with me. Then come back and leave me a comment with a link to your Eleven Things post so that I and we can get to know you better!  Sound good?

Here are the question's I'm asking all of you:

1.  What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
2.  What is one piece of advice you would give to other ladies your age?
3.  What is your favorite beauty product?
4.  What is one food that you cannot stand?
5. Where iwould your dream vacation be?
6.  Who is you biggest celebrity crush?

10.  If you could have a super power what would it be and why?
11.  What is one thing that you wish that you could by for yourself?  I'm taking a selfish buy - like mine would be a pair of Christian Louboutins for sure.

Promise to myself and you

Back when I started this blog (November 2011) I promised myself that I would not it overtake my "real" life.  That I wouldn't feel guilty on days where I didn't post but, the truth is I do.  I guess because I love each and everyone one of my readers, I cherish your comments, and the fact that you find me somewhat entertaining.  Well, life has been super hard lately.  I have a lot going on with work and family and that is why I didn't post yesterday and I'm only leaving you a brief note today.  I need to make my family and work my priority all the time and especially this week and probably next.  However, I promise you that I have got some great things planned for you, and that I'm not going anywhere in the blog world ;)  I will be responding to my comment-ers from Tuesday (I didn't forget about you!)  I have a really great post planned for, well, hopefully tomorrow - until then bear with me and check out some of my sponsors for great reads!

As for me - I'm off to the daily bump and grind and listening to old school Boyz II Men ;)

Whats love got to do with it?

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
Have any special plans this evening?  Me ? Well, J and I usually like to celebrate Valentine's day by having a homemade meal with our friends :)  That's not romantic - you say.
Everyday with J is Valentine's day (cough, cheesy, cough) and I think Valentine's day is just about celebrating love.
Not just the love I share with my dahling husband but, the love I have for every beautiful person in my life.

Ya see, I spent many a Valentine's day as single lady and I refused to mope around because I had no one to buy me flowers.  So what did I do?  Well, first I bought myself flowers and second I just thought about all the people in my life that I loved and celebrated the love that I had for them.  I will never forget to call my mom or my first Valentine, my daddy, on February 14th.

I've found love, and like I said everyday with J is Valentine's Day because there is not a day that goes by that I don't appreciate all the love between us.  I think Valentine's day is an important day to love a little extra - so we do just that.  I love celebrating with friends, it just makes the occasion extra special.
Typically, we cook a fancy dinner, make fancy cocktails, and watch the movie Valentine's day (3rd year in a row we have watched this on 2/14 -1st year was in the theater).  We started this "tradition" last year (in previous years we have spent Valentine's day with my in-laws) and we fully intend on keeping it alive.
On the menu tonight - wellll...I'm not really sure except for raspberry mojitos - if they turn out great I'll post the recipe ;)

Spread the love guys.
